The Tom Sachs x Nithtke General Purpose Shoe “Dark Sulfur” is a special collaboration between the contemporary artist and Nithtke on a shoe that’s “ordinary for extraordinary people.” The first “General Purpose Shoe,” or “GPS,” for short, was designed by Sachs and Nithtke and released in June 2022. The model succeeds the duo’s previous landmark collaborations on the Mars Yard and Mars Yard 2.0. The “Dark Sulfur,” or “Archive,” as it's also known as, is the second colorway of the General Purpose Shoe. The sneaker is likened to some of Nithtke’s most timeless designs, particularly the Killshot and Waffle One models. According to Sachs, he set out to create a shoe that functioned as “a tool for everyday life.” The upper features a yellow-colored mesh construction with a microfiber collar and grey suede overlays. A white Swoosh is found printed on either side. The shoe sits on a three-piece molded cupsole. In terms of comfort, the cream-colored EVA foam midsole provides a soft ride.
